TJ and I recently had a conversation about how our heart can "deceive us"... he asked about a friend and when I explained this friend was no longer married and that it "hadn't worked out", he asked, "Why?" I told him the friend didn't really have any business marrying this person because they didn't have similar values or beliefs and that made a marriage hard.
I then explained that's why you have to guard your heart and make choices based on what is right, be sure your heart is not deceiving you into making a wrong choice... He said, "You mean like Sampson and Delilah?" He didn't have any business being friends with her... EXACTLY. Evidently, they had just talked about Sampson and Delilah in kid's church a few weeks before.
Why is this so easy for a child to understand, and yet adults still don't get it. In life, if we could learn to follow our WORD instead of our own feelings, we would find the path much more comfortable.
