TJ TURNING 6

In just a few weeks, on March 21, TJ will turn 6. Nothing in the world is more precious to me than this little boy and the relationship we share and the responsibility entrusted to me by God. TJ is truly a light in our family. He is constantly coming up with his explanations and understanding of things and cracking up and amazing us. He is wise beyond his years. He is passionate about music and singing... to the point of driving us crazy because he wakes up singing and goes to sleep singing and makes up songs in between about whatever is running through his mind at the time. He loves his grandparents and family and I am so glad he gets to spend time with them... He says just the right thing to encourage and build up... most of the time. God has taught me so much through this little treasure in my life and this post is simply to express how grateful I am for his life and his giftings and the joy that he brings to me daily. Motherhood is a blessing.

House Cleaning

As you may have noticed from my Facebook profile or interests, I like things clean and nice, but I'm not one who necessarily enjoys house cleaning. I do, however, love this writing about house cleaning.

CLEANING HOUSE FOR 2009... Last Week I threw out worrying, it was getting old and in the way. It kept me from being me; I couldn't do things God's way.

I threw out a book on MY PAST(Didn't have time to read it anyway). Replaced it with NEW GOALS, started reading it today.

I threw out hate and bad memories.
Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too, threw out the one from long ago. Brought in some new books too, called I CAN, I WILL, and I MUST.

Threw out I might, I think and I ought. WOW, you should've seen the dust.

I ran across an OLD FRIEND -- His name is GOD the Father, and I really like His style. He helped me to do some cleaning and added some things Himself like PRAYER, HOPE, FAITH and LOVE. Yes... I placed them right on the shelf.

I picked up this special thing and placed it at the front door. I FOUND IT- it's called PEACE. Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice. Looks good around the place.
For things like Worry and Trouble there just isn't any space.
It's good to do a little house cleaning, get rid of the things on the shelf.

It sure makes things brighter.

Let this analogy work where we all need it the most -- in our hearts.

GOOD HEALTH IS WEALTH

"Good health is wealth"... I have heard my mother say that for many years and never really grasped its full meaning until recently as we are seeing people around us suffer in their bodies and contemplating, on our own homefront, the possible expense of medical needs during a time when we do not have health insurance.

If you are healthy and whole, and your family is the same, you are rich in blessings. Count your many blessings, see what God has done. Count your many blessings, name them one by one. I bet you will be amazed how grateful you become when you start counting.

WHO KNEW BASKETBALL COULD BE SO FUN?

TJ started practicing for Upwards Basketball back in January after a family member of Alisha's recommended it. They are active in a local Baptist church and knew that this program was great for all ages.
We have been so pleased with the program -- the values they teach, the spirit of competition (which translates to both teams win every week -- critical for those little guys) the scripture memorization, and of course, the basketball.
Although I hate to admit it, I could easily be one of those parents who is obnoxious at every game ... I just love watching him and his teammates get in there and get aggressive to get that ball and make those shots. And, I'm not the quietest "cheerleader" on the sidelines. BTW, TJ made his first shot in a game this past week. I was so excited for him... he gave me the thumbs up sign and grinned, then with renewed confidence in his ability, ran right over to an opposing team member and pulled the ball away on the next play -- OOPS, they had already blown the whistle... he was so pumped.
I thought how that should be a picture of us as Christians... our Father gives us the tools to be winners and to play an offensive game victoriously and as we test and prove Him strong, we should be built up in confidence and be ready to take back anything that has been stolen by the enemy... faith is built in all of us by looking at our past victories and successes and we can walk tall and proud as children of the Most High, our Victor in every situation.

TJ making a silly face at breakfast after the game. TJ loves him some basketball.

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

Hi Friends and Family,
Welcome to the Walker Family blog. I am so excited to be getting this set up. I am completely new to blogging but my good friend Heidi Houston inspired me with her great family blog page and I hope you enjoy this even half as much as I have enjoyed hers.
I will do my best to keep it current and informative.
Thanks for visiting.
